Hosting Basics
What is a Host on SignsIRL?
A Host is a property owner, property manager, business owner, venue operator, or approved representative who makes unused or underused real-world visibility available for advertising.
Examples of hostable visibility may include:
- Fences
- Walls
- Windows
- Lawns
- Parking lots
- Trailers
- Temporary display areas
- Event-facing property
- Street-visible business frontage
- Other approved physical placement locations
SignsIRL helps Hosts turn unused visibility into advertising income while keeping control over what can appear on their property.
How do I get started as a Host?
To start hosting, create a SignsIRL account, complete your profile, and submit your first placement or property for review.
You may be asked to provide:
- Your name or business name
- Contact information
- Property address or placement location
- Photos or Street View references
- Placement type
- Visibility notes
- Ownership or authorization details
- Any restrictions on advertiser categories or creative content
SignsIRL may review listings before making them available to Advertisers.
Do I need to own the property?
You must either own the property or have the legal authority to offer the placement for advertising. If you are a property manager, tenant, franchise operator, employee, or other representative, you are responsible for confirming that you are allowed to list the placement.
SignsIRL may request additional verification before publishing or activating a campaign.
How do I connect my payout account?
SignsIRL uses Stripe or another payment processor to support secure payouts. To receive Host payouts, you may need to connect a bank account and complete identity, tax, and account verification steps through the payment processor.
SignsIRL does not store your full bank account information.
How do I create my first listing?
A listing should describe the real-world advertising opportunity clearly enough for an Advertiser to evaluate it.
A strong listing may include:
- Placement address or general location
- Photos or Street View images
- Placement type
- Approximate size
- Traffic or visibility notes
- Restrictions or approval requirements
- Available dates
- Whether the placement is temporary, recurring, or long-term
- Any access instructions for installation, maintenance, or removal
SignsIRL may edit, standardize, reject, or request more information before publishing a listing.
What happens after I publish a listing?
After your listing is published or approved, Advertisers may be able to discover it, request a campaign, ask questions, or reserve it for a proposed advertising period.
Depending on the listing and market, SignsIRL may also help package your placement into campaigns, local networks, event opportunities, or advertiser proposals.
How will I know if an Advertiser is interested?
You may receive a message, campaign request, approval request, email, platform notification, or other alert through SignsIRL.
Hosts should respond quickly. Delayed responses can cause Advertisers to choose another placement or delay campaign activation.
Do I have to approve every campaign?
In most cases, Hosts retain the ability to approve or reject campaign requests for their property. Hosts may also set restrictions in advance, such as blocked categories, content preferences, installation limits, or date restrictions.
However, SignsIRL also keeps final discretion over whether a listing, advertiser, creative, campaign, or placement is allowed on the platform.
How long do I have to respond to a request?
Hosts should respond as quickly as possible, ideally within 24 hours. Fast responses help campaigns move forward and improve the quality of the marketplace.
If a Host does not respond, SignsIRL may allow the Advertiser to choose another placement, cancel the request, or mark the listing as less responsive.
When does the Advertiser pay?
Advertisers generally pay through SignsIRL before a campaign is activated, unless SignsIRL has approved a different payment schedule, reservation structure, invoice arrangement, or managed campaign process.
A payment authorization, deposit, reservation fee, or full campaign charge may be required depending on the booking.
When do Hosts get paid?
Host payouts are typically released after campaign approval, payment collection, and campaign activation, subject to SignsIRL’s payout schedule, payment processor timing, refund rules, dispute rules, and fraud review.
For longer campaigns, payouts may be released monthly, in installments, or according to the campaign terms.
Are campaigns month-to-month?
Some campaigns may run month-to-month. Others may be one-time, event-based, seasonal, short-term, recurring, or fixed-term.
The campaign request or placement agreement will describe the dates, renewal terms, cancellation rules, and payout timing.
Does SignsIRL offer Host protection?
SignsIRL may offer marketplace protections, payout support, dispute review, verification tools, platform messaging, and other safeguards. Any protection program is subject to the specific terms, exclusions, limits, and eligibility rules published by SignsIRL.
Hosts should not assume protection applies to every issue, property, campaign, installation, creative, or loss.
Why should I keep communication on SignsIRL?
Keeping messages on SignsIRL helps protect both Hosts and Advertisers. Platform messages create a record of approvals, restrictions, access instructions, creative decisions, campaign changes, and disputes.
Moving communication off-platform can make it harder for SignsIRL to help if something goes wrong.
Advertiser Basics
What is an Advertiser on SignsIRL?
An Advertiser is a business, organization, agency, campaign, event, nonprofit, or individual approved to book real-world advertising placements through SignsIRL.
Advertisers use SignsIRL to find physical visibility in local markets, neighborhoods, corridors, venues, events, and property networks.
How do I get started as an Advertiser?
Create a SignsIRL account, complete your profile, and add the information needed to request or book campaigns.
You may be asked to provide:
- Business or organization name
- Contact information
- Billing details
- Campaign goals
- Desired market or location
- Creative files or draft ad copy
- Preferred dates
- Budget range
- Any compliance-sensitive content details
SignsIRL may review Advertisers before allowing bookings.
How do I add a payment method?
Advertisers can add a credit card, debit card, bank payment method, or other approved payment method through SignsIRL’s secure payment flow.
SignsIRL may use Stripe or another payment processor to handle payment information. SignsIRL does not store your full card or bank details.
How do I search for a placement?
Advertisers may search by location, market, property type, placement type, availability, campaign dates, visibility, price, or other filters.
Depending on the listing, exact address details may be limited until login, approval, or booking. SignsIRL may show a general area, preview image, map view, or placement summary before full details are released.
How do I reserve or request a placement?
To request a placement, select the listing or campaign opportunity, choose your desired dates, submit campaign details, and provide any required creative or advertiser information.
Some placements may be instantly requestable. Others may require SignsIRL review, compliance review, or a custom quote.
What happens after I request a campaign?
After submitting a request, you may receive one of several outcomes:
- Approved
- Denied
- Changes requested
- More information needed
- SignsIRL review pending
- Quote pending
- Payment required
- Alternative placements suggested
SignsIRL may notify you by email, platform message, or dashboard notification.
How do I coordinate installation or launch?
After a campaign is accepted and paid for, SignsIRL, the Host, or an approved installer may coordinate installation, delivery, display, maintenance, proof-of-display, and removal.
Advertisers should not access a Host’s property or install materials unless specifically authorized.
Are charges recurring?
Some campaigns renew monthly or continue until canceled according to the campaign terms. Others are one-time, event-based, seasonal, or fixed-term.
Recurring campaigns may be charged automatically unless canceled according to the applicable cancellation rules.
When does the Host get paid?
Host payout timing does not always match the Advertiser’s payment date. SignsIRL may hold, process, or schedule payouts based on campaign activation, payment settlement, fraud review, dispute windows, proof-of-display, or other operational requirements.
Can I cancel a campaign?
Cancellation options depend on the campaign type, timing, Host approval, creative production, installation status, and SignsIRL’s cancellation policy.
A campaign that has already been approved, produced, installed, activated, or reserved may not be fully refundable.
Does SignsIRL offer advertiser protection?
SignsIRL may offer advertiser support, dispute review, proof-of-display tools, creative review, platform messaging, and other protections. Any protection program is subject to the terms, limits, exclusions, and eligibility rules published by SignsIRL.
Advertisers should review campaign details carefully before payment.
Why should I keep communication on SignsIRL?
Platform messaging protects Advertisers by keeping campaign details, approvals, changes, restrictions, and instructions in one place.
Sharing personal contact information or moving communication off-platform may make it harder for SignsIRL to provide support, resolve disputes, verify approvals, or enforce platform rules.
Payment Basics
Where do I add payment or payout information?
Advertisers can add payment methods in their account, checkout, billing, or campaign request flow.
Hosts can add payout information in their account or payout settings.
SignsIRL may use Stripe or another payment processor to securely collect payments, verify users, and send payouts.
What is Stripe?
Stripe is a third-party payment processor used by many online marketplaces. It helps SignsIRL securely process payments, verify payout accounts, transfer funds, and manage payment compliance.
When you enter card, bank, identity, or tax information through Stripe, that information is handled by Stripe subject to its own terms and privacy policy.
What fees does SignsIRL charge?
SignsIRL may earn money through service fees, marketplace fees, processing fees, campaign fees, managed service fees, installation coordination fees, or other charges disclosed during booking, checkout, payout, or account setup.
Fees may differ for Hosts, Advertisers, agencies, enterprise accounts, managed campaigns, or custom placements.
Are Advertisers charged a service fee?
Advertisers may be charged a service fee or marketplace fee in addition to the placement price, production cost, installation cost, taxes, or other campaign charges.
Any required fees should be shown before payment or described in the applicable campaign terms.
Are Hosts charged processing fees?
Host payouts may be reduced by payment processing fees, marketplace fees, taxes, adjustments, refunds, chargebacks, or other amounts described by SignsIRL.
Host payout details should be available in the Host dashboard or payout summary.
When is the first charge made?
SignsIRL may place a pre-authorization, collect a deposit, charge the first payment, or collect the full campaign amount when an Advertiser submits a request, receives approval, reserves a placement, signs a campaign order, or reaches another payment milestone.
The exact timing may vary by campaign type.
How do recurring payments work?
For recurring campaigns, the Advertiser’s payment method may be charged automatically on a monthly or scheduled basis until the campaign ends or is canceled according to the campaign terms.
If payment fails, SignsIRL may retry the charge, notify the Advertiser, pause the campaign, remove creative, suspend the account, or take other action allowed by the terms.
How do I stop monthly payments?
To stop recurring payments, the Advertiser must cancel the campaign through SignsIRL according to the applicable cancellation rules.
Removing signage, messaging the Host, or stopping use of the placement does not automatically cancel payment obligations unless SignsIRL confirms the cancellation.
Are refunds available?
Refund eligibility depends on the reason for cancellation, timing, campaign status, Host approval, creative production, installation, proof-of-display, dispute findings, and SignsIRL’s refund policy.
Refunds may not be available for campaigns that have already been approved, produced, installed, activated, partially delivered, or canceled late.
Why is off-platform payment not allowed?
Off-platform payment breaks the marketplace process and may remove protections for both Hosts and Advertisers.
When payment happens outside SignsIRL, the platform may not be able to verify the campaign, enforce rules, resolve disputes, confirm approval, process refunds, support payouts, protect users, or maintain accurate records.
Users who move payments off-platform may face warnings, fees, suspension, deactivation, or other enforcement action.
How SignsIRL Makes Money
SignsIRL makes money by charging fees for use of the marketplace and related services.
These may include:
- Advertiser service fees
- Host payout or processing fees
- Campaign management fees
- Payment processing fees
- Installation or coordination fees
- Enterprise account fees
- Agency or managed-service fees
- Network or placement fees
- Other disclosed charges
These fees help SignsIRL operate the marketplace, review listings, support Hosts and Advertisers, process payments, maintain technology, provide customer support, improve trust and safety, prevent fraud, handle disputes, and grow available advertising inventory.
SignsIRL is not a billboard owner, advertising agency, or permitting authority. SignsIRL provides a marketplace and related tools that help Hosts and Advertisers discover, request, approve, book, and manage physical advertising placements.

Living, Working, or Operating Inside a SignsIRL Placement
SignsIRL placements are for advertising visibility only.
Advertisers, installers, representatives, or third parties may not live, work, store personal property, operate a business, loiter, camp, vend, or otherwise occupy a Host’s property through a SignsIRL listing unless specifically authorized in writing through SignsIRL and allowed by the Host, the law, and the campaign terms.
A SignsIRL placement does not create a lease, tenancy, employment relationship, property right, agency relationship, or right to occupy the property.
Violating this rule may result in removal of the campaign, loss of platform protections, cancellation without refund, suspension, deactivation, or other enforcement action.
Viewing and Responding to a SignsIRL Message
How do I view a message?
Open your SignsIRL account and go to Messages, Notifications, or the relevant campaign, listing, or request.
Unread messages may relate to:
- Campaign requests
- Host approvals
- Advertiser questions
- Creative review
- Installation details
- Access instructions
- Payout information
- Disputes or support cases
- Requested changes
How do I respond?
Open the conversation, read the message, type your reply in the message box, and send it through SignsIRL.
Responding quickly helps build trust and keeps campaigns moving.
Why should I not move the conversation to text or email?
Keeping messages on SignsIRL helps preserve a clear record of approvals, changes, restrictions, payment expectations, installation details, and campaign timing.
Off-platform communication can make disputes harder to resolve and may violate SignsIRL’s rules.
When a Late Fee Is Charged
If an Advertiser’s recurring payment, invoice, or campaign charge fails, SignsIRL may retry the payment and send notices by email, dashboard notification, or platform message.
If the payment remains unpaid after the applicable grace period, SignsIRL may charge late fees where allowed by law and the campaign terms.
Late payment may also result in:
- Campaign pause
- Loss of reservation
- Removal of creative
- Cancellation
- Account restriction
- Collection activity
- Suspension or deactivation
- Loss of eligibility for future campaigns
Late fee rules may vary by location, campaign type, payment method, and applicable law.
